How to Grow a Grimoire

🦎
Find true mosses;
sphagnum, feathered fern,
haircap, broom and star;
ask them to teach you
the etymology of rock,
tree bark and soil

🍂
Listen for myceleal melodies,
become sensor;
let instinct guide your pen
and write into the subtle shifts:
when first bud breaks,
when last leaf falls,
when moon is just past full

💦
Scribe your spells in indigo ink,
watch your pages soften in the rain;
welcome mildew stains
that reveal spiraled incantations,
flowing like water, potent and fluid

🪲
Learn the lexicon of light;
seek the hidden truths of words;
expose and reject
their racist and colonial roots,
then watch your writing sprout
and grow its own wild nuance and metaphor

This poem was conceived and grown organically from my own unique human experience, thoughts, efforts, knowledge and research.

May these words bring truth and healing
through open hands and hearts. And then,
let it flow back into our Mother Earth
for the love of all her beings.
