Yet Another Sleepy Solstice

yet another sleepy
solstice, one more quiet
December treading uncertain
ground as each day slides into
the next covered with wet snow that
melts to muddy brown until the temperature
suddenly shifts, now bleaker
and colder, into windswept
icy white powder that
swirls and drifts onto
ledges and under edges
to disguise itself as
hope

this is always when I
sleep the best and longest
deep in the cold black
window open just a crack
seeking solace in my warm bed
as everything disolves
into the cold dark night

    1. Thank you so much, Peggy! Unfortunately, your poem didn’t get through as I don’t think I can receive attachments that way. Please email it to me. I think you have my email address. If not, let me know.
