Surrender to Spring

What would it mean
if you surrendered to Spring
and cast yourself
into the spell
of the green and growing things?

You, yes you, my cautious one.
You with your feet
so solid on the ground.

What if you chose to compost
your fears in wet fertile soil
and let your worn out regrets
wash away in the warm rain?

What if your expectations
could fly like pollen in the wind
and travel with hope’s blossoming
into the budding and the
burgeoning of wilder things?

What if you could simply let go
and flow with the rhythm
of spring’s ecstasy?

And what if you let
this surrender actually end you
and become an offering
to all you ever hoped you’d be?

You, yes you, my wary
four-leaf-clover-finder,
man-in-the-moon-watcher,
wish-upon-a-star-gazer.

What would it mean if you
surrendered to Spring
and cast yourself into the spell?

This poem was inspired by the teachings of Sophia Bonnie Wodin, friend, mentor, co-teacher and sister in spirit. Thank you Sophia for all your wisdom and support and for teaching me how to let go and still weave threads that are never broken.

  1. Absolutely beautiful! The words, the visions, the image, the dedication to Sophie! A really lovely way to surrender to the green and growing! 💜
