The Unraveling

                  you never asked for anything
not even an answer
to that unspoken question between us

then one day i looked up and you were gone

now i'm left wondering if i should have offered more

who were you, really?
who were we?

our time together was like a spring ephemeral
growing through the last of winter’s snow
a sprout
a bud
a bloom
a blossom

how will I flourish now?
