Epistle

When they question your gods and your divinities,
take them into the forest — listen to the roar of wind
as it howls through evergreens.

When they mock your magic,
show them the way plants transform light into oxygen
and breathe it back to the earth.

When they muffle your music,
sing with humpback whales and dance with dolphins.

When they burn your grimoire,
read the Fibonacci spirals patterned in the heart of a daisy
and listen to the secrets whispered by mycelium.

When they silence your voice,
speak to them in the language of ravens
and send your spells on the murmuration of starlings.

And when they try to take away
your hope for the world, plant acorns and sunflower seeds,
tend to your garden, believe in yourself,
and set a place at your table for us all.

  1. Love it!! Gives me such inspiration, joy and hope for the coming years of despair and desperation. Thank you, Diane!
