Gaia, I am Grateful

Gaia, I am grateful for ears
to hear doves call in the morning,
cicadas sing in the afternoon,
the splash of the jumping fish in the evening
and the howl of the coyote in the darkest of night.

Gaia, I am grateful for eyes
to see budding tree branches lift in the spring wind,
flames flicker in the summer campfire,
ripples cross the autumn water
and snow settle on the winter ground.

Gaia, I am grateful for senses
to feel wind in my hair,
sun on my face, rain on my skin
and the gentle pull of earth’s gravity on my body.

Gaia, I am grateful to know the cycles of your being
through the rise and fall of my breath,
the opening and closing of my womb,
the ebb and flow of my tears
and the steady tempo of my heart.

Gaia, I am grateful
for the gifts you have given me.
May I always sing your sun songs
and praise the blessings of your cycles and seasons.

May these words bring truth
and healing through open hands and hearts.
And then, let it flow back into our Mother Earth
for the love of all her beings.
