I am ground arousing
roots tingling and singing
I am ringing in the imminent
threshold of spring
I am crystalline crunch of crusty snow
that glitters with a billion
diamond reflections of the sun
I am crow call hoopla
black squirrel dashing
dark eyed juncos jumble
round the bird feeder
I am brittle branches snapping
cold crackling
gasping icy gulps
and letting loose
a whoosh
of steamy breath
that disappears in frosty air
I am moon sliver
infinite star glimmer
limitless
in the jet-black sky
