Sensing Imbolc

Listen:

First light glimmers
liminal in the Eastern sky
Orion falls back
into the infinite starry night

Hush now
Can you hear it?
Bridget’s forge is ringing
the coming of spring
The fire is sparking
The heat is rising
Hammer strikes metal
The anvil sings

Look now
Can you see it?
The sun is rising
Light is lifting
Gray sky is brightening
Shadows are sharpening

Still now
Can you feel it?
The earth is quickening
The ground is rousing
Hope is whispering
And love lies softly,
waiting

  1. I love this! So reflective of the season and the time. Or as the time should be, peacefully awaiting the return of green growing things.

  2. Diane,

I read this beautiful poem at our Imbolc ceremony last night. It’s just wonderful. Thank you for your words.

    Love, Shoshana
