Twelve Omens

i. 
three crows flying
one watches wistful
~ missing you

ii.
grey sky shrouding
stark stillness settles
~ seeking peace

iii.
amaryllis
blossom near bursting
~ life becomes

iv.
broken branches
white bag fluttering
~ entangled

v.
rabbit tracking
prints trail across snow
~ path finding

vi.
small squirrel climbing
high leaning ladder
~ reachable

vii.
four geese flying
steady wet snowfall
~ departure

viii.
stink bug buzzing
caught in ceiling light
~ bewildered

ix.
brief sun beaming
oak wood reflections
~ beckoning

x.
light snow swirling
wind traces spirals
~ liberty

xi.
lone star shining
night sky magnifies
~ concentrate

xii.
white moon waxing
misty sky filters
~ tenuous

  1. Hi Diane. I enjoyed your Omens. I think I’ll be looking at squirrels and crows and some other things differently. The Sun when he’s present and not behind clouds I call Grandfather. The Moon when I see her I call Grandmother. The trees at the park I call my Brothers and Sisters. If a particular animal catches my awareness I usually refer to my small copy of Ted Andrews’ Animal Speak.
    I think I’ll be looking at footprints and falling snow differently. Stink bugs?… I have no love for, but may look at them a little differently also.
